Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is a maritime museum and outdoor village with Australia’s richest shipwreck collection, all contained in an 1870s village located on a state heritage listed overlooking Lady Bay.

Owned and operated by the Warrnambool Cheese & Butter Factory, Cheese World is the cellar door outlet for their award winning Warrnambool Heritage Cheddar cheese range. Around 13 km from Blue Whale Motor Inn & Apartments.

Beaches

Warrnambool’s patrolled surf beach is located off Pertobe Road. The beach fronts the foreshore reserve and forms the shoreline of Lady Bay.

Great Ocean Road, Peterborough

Peterborough – approximately 50km away – is well known for historical shipwrecks, as well as views of the London Arch – an offshore formation in the Port Campbell National Park.

Hopkins Falls

Around 17km away, Hopkins Falls are an ideal picnic, fishing and walking spot, with gas barbecues and toilets provided.

Hopkins River

The nearby Hopkins River mouth – with its beautiful cliffs, rock formations and rock pools – is a popular fishing spot.

Logan’s Beach Whale Watching

Each year, roughly between late May and early October, Southern Right Whales return to their nursery at Logan’s Beach to give birth and raise their calves.

May Race Carnival

All roads lead to the ‘Bool’ in the first week of May each year as the Club conducts the internationally acclaimed TAB Warrnambool May Racing Carnival.

Middle Island Maremma Project

Nearby Middle Island has long been home to a colony of Little Penguins. Maremma dogs were trained to protect the penguins from foxes during the breeding season – as featured in the movie, Oddball.

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures

Located at Lavers Hill (approximately 126 km away), Otway Fly Treetop Adventures offers a nature-based rainforest walk in the treetops, plus an exciting zip line experience.

Proudfoot’s Boathouse

Built in 1885, Proudfoot’s Boathouse was a very popular destination for tourists from Melbourne, and first started serving afternoon teas in 1886.

Thunder Point Coastal Walk

Thunder Point Coastal Reserve, around 4km away, offers some of the best coastal scenery in the area.

Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve

Tower Hill is a major natural landmark around 15km from Warrnambool. Many people visit it to enjoy a picnic or walk, to see its wildlife or to study its geology.

Warrnambool Botanic Gardens

Around three kilometres away, the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens comprise 20 acres of tranquil gardens, providing the people of Warrnambool with a great source of municipal pride and a timeless place of pleasure and interest for future generations.

Whaleboat Racing

Each February the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village fleet of whaleboats are used for the Australian Whale boat Championships.

Wollaston Bridge

Located approximately six kilometres from Blue Whale Motor Inn & Apartments, Wollaston Bridge was erected across the Merri River in 1890. A rare surviving example of a cable suspension bridge in Victoria.
